Legend of my hometown (Vallehermoso)

Vallermoso is my hometown it is located just between the border lines of both Oriental and Occidental Negros. It is the center of three cities: 29 kilometers north from the city of Guihulngan, 21 kilometers South from the city of San Carlos, 29 kilometers west from the city of Canlaon. The town was the official residence of the revoluionary leader and hero of Negros Oriental, Don Diego dela Vina y dela Rosa. Don Diego dela Viva shaped the begining of the municipality. "Vallehermoso" when he saw the beautiful Valley. In 1881. Don Diego dela Viva came from Negros Occidental in search of territories to conquer. The land he saw a top the mountains was the wilderness called bagawines. Bukidnons, known to be unfriendly aborignals inhabited the area. However, dela Vina sought the tribal cheif, named Ka Saniko and truck barter. For lands on coastal Bagawines, dela Viva offered wondrous articles from iloilo, such as fine canes, well-crafted bolos and colorful patadyongs. Ka Saniko then moved further to pinokawan.Dela Viva with a number of Bukidnons cleared the land and constructed his residence, a casa tribunal and a chapel. In less than five years they transformed the Valley into a hacienda of sugar cane,tabaco,coconut,rice and He called it the "beautieul valley" Vallehermoso.
